You can connect almost any softphone to babelforce to receive and make calls. The only requirements are that the softphone supports the SIP standard and that it can be registered to a telecom provider.
Here we will list a selection of some of the more commonly used softphones.
The majority of our customers use the products from CounterPath:
You can download the free x-lite softphone for Windows and Mac from here: http://www.counterpath.com/x-lite-download/ (scroll down the page to the download links).
If you mainly take inbound calls and do straightforward outbound calls, the x-lite can work well for you. But it has certain limitations: it does not have the ability to transfer calls or to create small conference calls by joining calls.
The pay version that is also supported by CounterPath is called Bria - you can download the Windows and Mac versions from here: http://www.counterpath.com/bria/
There is also a range of apps for iPad, iphone and Android devices - you can find information here: https://www.counterpath.com/softphone-clients.html
Another softphone is for instance Zoiper https://www.zoiper.com/. babelforce works independent of any softphone client and you can try any you want. Feel free to contact us if you want to connect to a specific softphone client we do not have an article about. Find all articles on softphones here.
