babelforce has introduced a new call flow builder (previously map view):

You may toggle back to the old map view in the top right of the page if you prefer the old version for now.

The new call flow builder will become default in the next weeks. If you want to provide feedback or report any issues, please reach out to success@babelforce.com.

It comes with all the existing features of the old map view and brings central improvements at the same time. All new features will only be supported by the new builder (e.g. different call routes from the new Input Reader).

We consider the new call flow builder fully ready for use. However, it is still being improved and you will see more features being revealed in the upcoming weeks and months.

This is how our new call flow  builder looks like:

The dark mode is not available yet but will follow.

Below, we will explain the most important features that differ to the old view:

  • Flow types (Tree view, Freeform and reusing of modules)
  • Navigation
  • Representation of local automations
  • Adding new modules

Flow types

Tree view

  • The default view is the Tree view.
  • The flow is automatically created in a hierarchical, top-down structure.
  • Most importantly, modules can be reused as placeholders within call flows.
  • What this means: if a module needs to link to another module that is already used elsewhere in the flow, instead of drawing an arrow across the entire flow, a placeholder is shown. These placeholders act like links to the original module, similar to a shortcut.
  • Reused modules help maintain a clear hierarchical structure and prevent excessive intersecting arrows that can make the flow difficult to read.
  • Reused modules are indicated by an additional grey box around the module. See the example below:

How to read reused modules in the tree view?

  • The flow appears to end where a placeholder module is shown, as it links back to the original module.
  • To continue following the flow, hover over the placeholder module. This highlights the original module as well as all related placeholders. In the future, you will be able to jump directly to the original module.
  • To edit the original module, you can double-click either the original module or any of its placeholder modules.

It is possible to disable reused modules. To do so, you need to switch to the Freeform view, which is explained next.

Freeform

  • As in the old map view, you have the option to sort the modules yourself when activating "Freeform"
  • You can move modules to your liking and it will be saved locally on your machine
    • In future, we want to offer the option to save these changes in the account to share with others
  • You can work with the placeholder (reused) modules, or you can disable them:

Navigation

Opening a call flow

  • As before, you have two ways to view a call flow:
    • Either you use the drop down in the builder and find a phone number or a call module
  • You can also go to the "Numbers" page and select the "Map" icon to navigate to the call flow builder:

Zooming and dragging

  • There are two ways to navigate within the call flow, depending on how you work with the builder. Use your touchpad or a mouse. You can zoom and drag in multiple ways, below we show all the options
    • Track/touch pad
      • two fingers = drag
      • pitch/unpitch = zoom
      • right button = drag
      • left button + hold space = drag
      • two fingers + ctrl/alt/cmd = zoom
    • mouse
      • left button + hold space = drag
      • right button = drag
      • middle button = drag
      • scroll = zoom
    • Whenever you drag, you will see the curser changing to a hand, see below:

Identifying neighboring modules and editing modules

  • By clicking on any module, you select it and the directly connected modules are highlighted - all other modules turn grey:
  • When clicking on a module, you will also get a navigation bar, allowing you to edit, copy or delete it.

Searching

  • There is a new search bar next to the call flow selector dropdown
  • It allows you to enter free text and it will highlight the first module that matches the name
    • this will be extended in the future, right now, only the first will be highlighted
  • In your search, the more specific you are, the more likely you will be navigated to the right module
    • The view jumps to the match
    • The module is highlighted

Local Automations

  • As for now, local automations are now always presented on the map view. We will introduce a function to activate/deactivate them in the future.
    • A pre-automation is above the call module, a post automation at the end
  • If only one automation is present on a module, double clicking on the name of the automation will open its settings
  • If multiple automations are present, several symbols (or a count) will be displayed
    • By clicking on the symbols, a side menu will open
    • Click on the name to open a specific local automation

Adding new modules

  • All previous features to add new call modules are still available:
    • Open any call module
    • Find the after-flow
    • Click on + to add a new module

  • A new way to add modules is the + between two modules

    • Click on the "+" button to add a new module, the module selection will open
    • Fill out the new module and save. The new module will be added between the two exisiting modules in the flow.
